Šonov – Głuszyca Górna – Sierpnica – Krajanów – Šonov

Description of the route

The route begins in Šonov at the junction beside the municipal office. Follow cycle route no. 4002 uphill to a small chapel and rest area with beautiful views of the Church of St Margaret and the Broumov Walls. Continue along the forest track over the saddle beneath Rudný vrch, then follow the quiet track across the hillside, with occasional views along the way. Pass above the Rožmitál u Broumova quarry and continue to the small resort of Janovičky. Turn right and climb through Janovičky on cycle no. 4501 to the border crossing in the saddle beneath Czarnoch. Turn right again and descend along Polish cycle route G7 into the valley of the Bystrzyca River. There, turn right and ride past the Church of St John Paul II to Bartnica railway station. Just beyond the station, turn right again and follow the track through the fields to Świerki Kłodzkie, home to the Church of St Nicholas and a statue of St John of Nepomuk. Turn left and follow field tracks past an old flooded quarry, where you can swim if the fancy takes you, then continue to the hamlet of Dworki. Follow the road through Krajanów, passing the restored Church of St George, and continue to the little village of Rybno. From there, take the field track south-east between the meadows until you reach the junction above Włodowice. Turn right and descend to the hamlet of Rzędzina. Turn left and continue through Rudawa to the border hamlet of Tłumaczówek, where you join cycle route no. 4148. Turn right and follow the minor road upstream beside Šonovský potok, passing through Šonov and returning to the starting point by the cemetery Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Standing nearby is the Baroque Church of St Margaret, one of the Broumov Group of Churches.
