Lubawka – Bukówka – Žacléř – Křenov – Babí – Voletiny – Poříčí

Description of the route

The route begins at Lubawka railway station. Follow marked cycle route ER-6 to Błażkowa and, around 50 metres before you reach the chapel, turn left onto the forest track. This leads up to a viewpoint overlooking the Bukówka Reservoir. Go Follow the red forest track down to the village of Bukówka, then head along the road through Szczepanów. Beyond the village, turn left onto the blue field track and continue straight ahead through the forest to the Růžový palouček memorial site on the Czech–Polish border. From there, take the red cycle route through Černá Voda to the Žacléř Mining Open-Air Museum. This important cultural monument is located within the former Jan Šverma coal mine complex. Cycle route no. 4081 then leads to Rýchorské náměstí in Žacléř, part of the town’s designated conservation area, where you can visit the Municipal Museum or stop at the town’s renowned patisserie. Continue along route no. 4504 past the Church of the Holy Trinity. After descending into a deep valley, ride past the volcanic rock formations of Liščí kameny and continue on to Křenov. From Malý Křenov, follow route no. 4210 uphill through rolling forest terrain to the Stachelberg Artillery Fortress and the Eliška lookout tower. Follow route no. 4081 past the Babí quarry to the shooting range. Turn left there and follow the forest track along the Trutnov Fortifications educational trail to the forest junction, then turn right and take the unmarked forest track to cycle no. 4084. Follow that to the Pod Rechenburgem junction, turn right and join cycle route no. 4213. The route continues along a partly wooded ridge via Vébrovka to the mountain pass. Turn left and follow the unmarked forest track through the valley to the little village of Voletiny and its Weaving Museum. Finally, rejoin cycle route no. 4084 and follow it to Trutnov střed railway station in Poříčí.
